Blubanner: the innovative fabric that saves the sea at the Design Innovation Awards

In Genoa, from 21 to 26 September, Resolfin will be present at the Genoa Boat Show, the most important and exclusive event in the international nautical market.

You will find us at stand TB11, located on the upper floor of the Tech Trade pavilion, where we will present our latest projects and our entire range of products, including the Blubanner fabric, an innovative material nominated for the Design Innovation Awards 2023 and obtained from the recycling of plastics recovered from the sea.

What are the Design Innovation Awards and who are they for?

The Design Innovation Award is a prestigious recognition established in 2020 by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici, with the aim of promoting excellence and innovation in the nautical sector. This award celebrates projects and products that stand out in terms of design, research and sustainability among the various exhibitors at the Salone Nautico Internazionale.

The award is divided into ten categories, and for each of them, the winning projects are selected by an independent Jury composed of national and international experts from different sectors: professional designers, specialized journalists, university researchers, shipowners and representatives of institutions and organizations in the sector.

Seaqual and Resolfin: together to clean the seas

The sustainable fabric Blubanner is the result of the collaboration between Resolfin and Seaqual, an initiative that involves over 60 countries in fighting the pollution of seas and oceans.

Seaqual unites individuals, groups, associations, organizations, companies and brands to free the seas from plastic, metal, glass, rubber and mixed waste, previously destined for landfill or incinerators. Thanks to the Seaqual initiative, plastic recovered during ocean clean-ups in Europe, the Mediterranean and along the west coast of Africa, is transformed at approved facilities into Seaqual Marine Plastic, a material used by industries to create new products, such as our flags made of sustainable and green fabrics

Why did Resolfin design and market the Blubanner fabric?

At Resolfin, we have always cared about safeguarding our planet, its inhabitants and its environments. We firmly believe that every company must do its part, pursuing a policy of social responsibility. For this reason, with the Resolgreen brand, we have designed and marketed the Blubanner fabric for our flags, made with filaments obtained from the recycling of plastic collected at sea. But that’s not all! As evidence of our commitment, we have identified precise guidelines in the production process and in the selection of materials. In addition to the use of recycled and recyclable products, we adopt solar energy for the production, purification and filtering of emissions into the atmosphere. Furthermore, we plan to use 97% eco-friendly water-based inks and the production of poles, flagpoles and supports in 100% recyclable aluminum or steel.
